Coco beach is dramatically set in a horseshoe bay with rocks offshore, only 20 minutes from the new Liberia International Airport. Sailboats and fishing boats are scattered throughout the bay and provide great opportunity to watch local fisherman at their daily chores. Walking to the "center" you will discover many good restaurants and souvenir shops and a lively nightlife.

People from all over the world come to scuba dive, sail, fish and snorkel. You may also enjoy horseback riding, hiking, cycling, tennis, and kayaking.

Diving

Costa Rica, meaning "Rich Coast", is indeed very rich....in wildlife. Scuba Divers have voted Costa Rica #1 in the world for "Big Animals". Few destinations are home to more marine animals and variety of species than is the Gulf of Papagayo. Schools of fish numbering in the thousands give a diver the chance to glide into a "wall" of fish, and large pelagic animals are a thrill to see. This pristine, natural environment is just now becoming well known.

Fishing

Dozen of fishing boats are just here: The average running time is less than an hour to the blue water outside of Cabo Vela, 40 minutes to the Catalina Islands and 90 minutes to the Murcielagos Islands. The Catalinas are often the "last stop" for boats on the way home, with a couple of passes for wahoo or perhaps drifting a blue runner or bonito for roosters or Pacific cubera snapper. The islands often produce mackerel, tuna or bonito as well. Off the tip of the Santa Elena Peninsula, at the northern end of Papagayo Bay, the Murcielagos have it all. Waters around the chain of rocky islets is home to big amberjack, Pacific cubera snapper, grouper, roosterfish and some of the best wahoo angling on the coast. With a steep inshore drop-off nearby, it is also a frequent hot spot for marlin and sailfish.
