Welcome to the Peace lodge. The ultimate awakening of your senses. Here every magical sight, wondrous smell and sensual touch create irreplaceable memories of a journey you wish to take again and again.
Each and every room boasts a Jacuzzi tub and stone fireplace along with showers that transform into waterfalls with the turn of a knob. From the handcrafted canopy beds and love seats to the original stained glass and illustrated artwork you will understand the time and care put into the details of each accommodation. To insure your enjoyment of the cool mountain weather and view of the Poás Volcano, we built oversized balconies complete with rocking chairs, hammocks and custom Jacuzzi tubs. The experience continues with your choice of aromatherapy products and our selection of fine quality linens and robes.
All guests are welcome to enjoy the park before it opens and after it closes, the optimal bird and wildlife viewing times. Private walking tours are available, but we suggest booking these at the same time you reserve your room.
Guests will be greeted in our new Reception with a postcard view of the La Paz River Valley. Complimentary internet access is available to all of our guests in the Reception as well as in the Vista Poas Dining Room
We recommend a three-night stay for guests looking to make the most of their Peace Lodge experience. Please keep in mind, as beautiful as we think our property is, we recommend no more than a four night stay, in order for you to explore other areas of Costa Rica. Guests arriving directly from the airport will awaken to the sound of the rainforest and waterfalls rather than the city noise of San Jose. The drive from the airport is approximately one hour and very scenic.
Guests can either dine on the patio viewing the Poás Volcano or have breakfast served in their room. For lunch guests can choose from our delicious buffet including rotisserie chicken, hot dogs, pizza and typical Costa Rican fare in the Colibries Restaurant, rated Four Forks by the ICT or enjoy a la carte waitress service in our Big Trout Bar. Each afternoon, guests are invited to the Big Trout Bar to watch the sunset and enjoy a la carte tapas and freshly made fruit drinks lakeside.
Dinner becomes an event in our intimate dining room and bar in the Vista Poás Restaurant. Guests can arrive early for a pre-dinner drink, a game of backgammon or read from our lending library. Our first-class wait staff will delight them with a delectable four-course meal and full bar. Guests can choose room service as well.
We offer three diverse day tours for guests of the Peace Lodge including Sarapiquí Canopy Adventure, Rafting on the Sarapiquí, and a Poás Volcano-Doka Estate Coffee Tour. |

The 1,200 square foot villa leaves
nothing to be desired. First there are not one, not two, but three
fireplaces to set the mood for this wonderland in the Cloud Forest.
The master bedroom alone invokes thoughts of romance with its king
size canopy bed set before a gas fireplace. The oversized master
bathroom, complete with full Jacuzzi tub, fireplace (yes, fireplace)
and waterfall shower will make you wonder why you aren't staying
longer. The villa is complete with a luxurious living room with
a two-story fireplace and a second floor loft with a queen size
bed, a single bed and full bathroom. If that isn't enough there
is a kitchenette and dining area with refrigerator, coffee maker
and microwave oven.
But, the villa would not be complete without
a view of the La Paz River Valley and the Poás Volcano and
how best to enjoy them but from the Jacuzzi tub on the balcony.
But don't worry, when you've had enough 'nature' for the day, the
villa is well equipped with a stereo system with speakers in every
room and satellite TV in both the living area and master bedroom.

DAY TOURS FROM THE PEACE LODGE
The Peace Lodge of La Paz Waterfall Gardens is ideally located in the center of the most famous attractions in the Central Valley and Northern Region of Costa Rica. These tours include Poás Volcano (25 minutes away), Doka Coffee Estate (30 minutes away), the Sarapiqui River Rapids and Horseback Riding (45 minutes away), Canopy Tour and Horseback Riding (45 minutes away). |
|
For most of our tours we recommend a light jacket. For Canopy and Rafting, you will need long pants for the horseback riding and a change of clothes for the Rafting. You will definitely want to wear hiking shoes or sneakers with good tread for the tours. A pair of hiking sandals are a good option for the Rafting. We try to adhere to our departure times listed for each tour. Please be in the Reception ten minutes before your scheduled departure.
Poás Volcano and Doka Coffee Plantation
$65 per person; 8:30 a.m. departure, 12:00 p.m. return
As you awake each morning you will enjoy the view of the Poás Volcano from your Peace Lodge balcony. This tour offers you a much closer experience. Your informative guide will transport you to Poás, one of the four active volcanoes in Costa Rica, and impart to you the knowledge of the creation of Costa Rica via these sleeping giants.
The crystal blue sulfur pools will amaze and enthrall you as you view this incredible landscape. Once you’ve had your fill of the beauty that is Poás, you will head to another of Costa Rica’s trademarks: an authentic coffee plantation. As one of the oldest hydro-powered wet mills in Costa Rica, this third generation coffee plantation has been voted the best coffee in the region. In fact, 90% of its high quality coffee is sent directly to Starbucks. You’ll learn how coffee is grown, picked, milled and ground.
We may even find a basket for you to pick a few beans, or "cherries" as the locals call them. Find out first hand, or "cup", why Costa Rican coffee is so famous. And if you don’t get filled up on the coffee, you’ll return in time for lunch at Waterfall Gardens. |

| |
|
| | Hacienda Pozo Azul Canopy Adventure
$95 per person; 8:15 a.m. departure, 3:30 p.m. return

The hour ride brings you to the first platform of your canopy. The 12-platform tour will zip you through the trees as you venture deeper and deeper into the forest. Once you’ve worked up a hearty appetite, you will enjoy an authentic Costa Rican lunch with a gorgeous view of the Sarapiqui River. |
| |
Hacienda Pozo Azul Rafting Trip
$95 per person; 8:15 a .m. departure, 3:30 p.m. return

This tour offers Class I, II and III rafting for the entire family! During the rainy season (May through December) the rafting is a bit more exciting with the higher water levels and better rapids. The Sarapiqui River is the one of the cleanest and most scenic rivers in Costa Rica. Once you’ve worked up a hearty appetite, you will enjoy an authentic Costa Rican lunch with a gorgeous view of the Sarapiqui River. |
